What is an NAD Drip?

What is an NAD Drip?

As we grow older, our bodies experience a variety of cellular changes that can impact our energy levels, mental clarity, and overall health. NAD IV therapy, an innovative treatment, provides a method to replenish these essential levels, potentially offering benefits such as increased energy and enhanced cognitive function.

Research indicates that NAD IV therapy can be advantageous for individuals seeking relief from the changes linked to aging, like brain fog, trouble concentrating, chronic fatigue, depression and anxiety. Public figures, including Joe Rogan can't stop talking about NAD drip IV therapy!

We have noticed that many people coming into Drip IV Therapy have been asking about NAD: What is it? What does it do? How is it beneficial?

We're going back to the basics and will break it down for you:

  1. What is an NAD drip?
  2. How does NAD infusion or injection therapy work?
  3. What are the benefits of NAD IV therapy?
  4. How to get NAD drip?

What is an NAD drip?

NAD (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is an vital coenzyme present in every cell of the human body, playing a crucial role in energy metabolism, DNA repair, and overall cellular function.

NAD+ levels naturally decline as we age, which can contribute to various age-related health issues. NAD+ IV therapy, commonly referred to as an NAD drip, involves administering NAD+ directly into the bloodstream through an intravenous infusion. This method ensures rapid delivery and optimal absorption, potentially enhancing the body's natural levels of NAD+.

It is believed that NAD's functions are linked to the aging process and that a decline in NAD levels can be the reason our bodies age. NAD therapy replenishes the amount of NAD in the body, slowing down the aging process and providing your cells the energy they need to remain at optimal levels of functioning.

The stronger you can make your cells, the stronger your body is at all its functions, from your immune system, to your brain, to your metabolism.

What's the difference between NAD and NAD+?

NAD is the general name used to describe all types of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, NAD, NAD+ or NADH. Although, NAD+ or NADH scientifically describes the actual molecule under reference.

NAD+ is the oxidized form of NAD. During NAD IV therapy, NAD+ is administered because it  has catalytic properties. When it gets into the bloodstream, cells can immediately use this form of NAD to power their various processes.

How does NAD infusion or injection therapy work?

NAD+ IV treatments supplement and restore the levels of this powerful coenzyme in your body.

At Drip IV,  we use a special solution containing a concentrated dose of NAD which is delivered directly into the bloodstream through an IV administered by our nursing personnel, making it available to your cells for immediate use. Because NAD bypasses the digestive and metabolic systems, you can expect a 100% absorption rate for maximum effect and minimal waste.

The high dose of NAD+ quickly boosts your NAD levels, which can contribute to improved sleep quality, mental clarity, reduced brain fog, and a burst of energy that last anywhere from 1-8 weeks depending on where you are in your therapy plan. NAD 500mg last much longer than 15 days and most infusions last more than 1 day depending on where you are starting and what your end goals are.

NAD injectables, as an alternative, typically provide effects lasting only 1-3 days after the initial dose. This is why patients often return sooner for a second injection. With each subsequent injection, NAD levels in the plasma build up, allowing the effects and health benefits to last longer. Once the system is adequately built up, injectables at a dose of 200 mg can provide benefits that last 10-14 days.

What are the potential benefits of NAD IV therapy?

Known as the "helper molecule", NAD+ generates molecular reactions by binding to other enzymes in the body. NAD+ is involved in several biological processes that maintain our health and vitality.

NAD+ levels decline naturally as we age, and are also depleted by other factors such as toxins, malnutrition, lack of exercise, stress, inadequate sleep, alcohol, and smoking. NAD+ also has a close association with the circadian cycle.

NAD+ IV treatments can potentially offer the following benefits to your healthcare:
  • Enhanced Cellular Energy: By boosting mitochondrial function, NAD+ IV therapy can increase adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production, leading to improved energy and reduced fatigue. Replenishing NAD+ levels through IV therapy can significantly boost energy production, making it especially beneficial for those suffering from chronic fatigue or energy depletion.  Many individuals report feeling more energized and physically capable after treatment, helping them tackle daily tasks with renewed vitality.
  • Metabolic Support: NAD+ is a critical coenzyme that powers the mitochondria, the energy factories of cells. By optimizing energy production, NAD IV therapy supports the body’s ability to convert nutrients into usable energy, promoting overall vitality. NAD+ also plays a role in managing blood sugar levels and fat metabolism, which is essential for preventing insulin resistance and supporting healthy weight management.
  • Anti-Aging Effects: NAD+ plays a role in DNA repair and the activation of sirtuins, proteins associated with longevity. By reducing oxidative stress and promoting cellular repair, NAD IV therapy may slow the effects of aging, helping individuals maintain healthier skin, improved vitality, and enhanced physical performance.
  • Improved Cognitive Function: NAD+ plays a vital role in brain function, supporting neurotransmitter activity and protecting neurons from oxidative stress. NAD IV therapy may improve memory, focus, and mental clarity. It has also shown promise in addressing cognitive decline linked to aging and neurodegenerative conditions like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.
  • Improved Mental Health: NAD+ supports the production of neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine, which regulate mood, cognition, and mental clarity. This is why NAD therapy is sometimes used to address conditions like PTSD, depression, and addiction. (See how ketamine and NAD work together to improve brain health and mental illness.)

How to get an NAD drip?

At Drip IV, we offer both NAD IV therapy and NAD injections because each method serves different patient preferences and needs.

While NAD IV therapy provides the most rapid and comprehensive delivery of NAD directly into the bloodstream, NAD injections are a great alternative for those who may not be ready to commit to IV therapy. In fact, starting with NAD injections is often a step in the process of building tolerance before transitioning to NAD IV, making it an integral part of the treatment pathway.

Another thing to take into consideration is while replenishing NAD+ through IV therapy can be highly beneficial, it requires some time. For those with a tight schedule who still wish to enjoy the advantages of NAD+, we also offer subcutaneous injections. This alternative might better suit your busy lifestyle.

By offering both options, we ensure that patients who prefer shorter sessions or are not interested in IV therapy can still reap the benefits of NAD. This flexibility empowers patients to choose the method that aligns with their lifestyle while still prioritizing their health and wellness goals.
